The Grounding Relationship

In the midst of the many relationships we experience throughout life, Scripture calls Christians to maintain a unified focus. We are to live in a manner that reflects the peace of God in every relationship. This is only possible when we remain grounded in our personal relationship with the Lord. Through the one Spirit, we are united in Christ and empowered to experience a peace that should characterize every interaction we have.
Ephesians 4:1-7
For peace to flow from our lives, we must look to God as our example and source of humility, gentleness, and patience. Jesus demonstrated perfect humility by taking on the likeness of mankind and becoming obedient to the Father's will (Phil. 2:5-8). One of the greatest displays of His humility was seen when He was arrested and led to Calvary, remaining silent like a lamb led to the slaughter (Acts 8:32-35).
Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus was motivated by the love God has for humanity (John 3:16). He patiently endured suffering, trusting the Father's plan and waiting for the day He would be raised from the dead and exalted to His place of honor at the Father's right hand.
Through our relationship with Jesus, we have both an example to follow and a hope to anticipate. We know there is coming a day when we will be welcomed into the presence of the Lord and experience the fullness of His promises. This confidence should empower us to live with expectation, extending grace to others and inviting them to experience the same hope we have in Christ.
