From the Heart

Giving glory and sacrifices to the Lord are actions that are quickly noticed by others. The writer of Psalm 96:1-13 gives multiple prompts of actions for a believer to express worship toward God. Many times, sacrifices are noticed much more than words. We notice when someone gives up something for us, but we will miss other subtle and consistent efforts on our behalf.
In the middle of Psalm 96:7-8, we see the worthy command to give God an offering of which He is worthy. What we should not miss is the five references found in the first three verses telling us to sing, praise God, and proclaim God’s greatness with our mouths.  After the call to give an offering, is the direction for an invitation be given to the nations to know about God and to know that all creation proclaims joy because of God.
The biggest impact of our testament is from the overflow of our hearts, which our mouths cannot help but proclaim. In between the steps we take in life are the words that express the joy and strength we have in our lives.
