War with God or Worship God part 1
Following Christ means focusing on living with joy by worshiping God through Jesus. Jesus promises more to experience than just heaven. Isaiah 11:6-9 expresses a new environment on earth, “The wolf shall dwell with the lamb,” and a “nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra,” and “the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord.” This expectation will be initiated on the day of Christ's return. From chapter twelve to chapter fourteen, the phrase “on that day” is mentioned seventeen times. One distinction that is evident is that you will either worship God or be found warring against God when this day comes.
Zechariah 12:3-10 presents the beginning of what will happen. Jerusalem will be made into a heavy stone with which other nations will injure themselves as they come against the city and experience directly what it is like to war with God. Because of that, the clans of Judah will acknowledge the strength of the Lord working through Jerusalem (Zech. 12:5). The desire of other nations to come against Jerusalem will be because the Lord will make them a cup of staggering. The imagery of the cup of wine in the Old Testament is commonly known for God’s judgment (Isa. 51:17; Jer. 25:15; Hab. 2:16).
Pay attention to the steps you take in life and focus them on worshiping God rather than warring with Him.
