Gospel + Finances

Luke 16:1-9
The perspective in which a follower of Jesus Christs uses their treasure or wealth should always be motivated by the belief of the gospel or a desire for an opportunity to share the gospel. Jesus told a parable ending with an instruction to “make friends for yourself by means of unrighteous wealth, so that when it fails they may receive you into the enteral dwellings” (Luke 16:9). The longterm focus of a believer is that God’s eternal kingdom will be given and never earned, therefore freeing up our treasures and wealth for kingdom use.
The belief of trusting and praising God for everything we have comes from the belief that “every beast of the forest is” God’s (Psalm 50:10). With this acknowledgement believers understand that everything they have is from God and live with a  desire to proclaim glory be given to God. One part of giving glory to God is praising God. In Psalm 50:14-15, 23, God proclaims that His people give sacrifices of thanksgiving. This type of praise is a grateful acknowledgement from receiving something, not sacrificing to merely appease God. When we praise God from this perspective genuine joy is expressed to God and it is also perceived by those whom we share God with. We make money decisions everyday, how connected are your money decisions to the gospel?  Take steps to connect your financial decisions to the gospel and then live because of it.
