Minister Intentionally

We all know life to be a series of events, but the perspective in which we approach these events and moments in life will demonstrate whether we are living a righteous life that glorifies God. Ministry works the same way, but only when ministry is the intent. In order to lead a life that is intended to glorify God, we must understand two principles about the term “ministry”.
When Paul goes to see James and the other elders in Jerusalem, he tells them about the spread of the gospel amongst the Gentiles. He told them “one by one the things that God had done” (Acts 21:19). The concept of one moment of ministry leading to another moment for Paul is the result of his acceptance of the call to be the Lord’s “chosen instrument” (Acts 9:15). The first principle is to realize it is God who is choreographing the work as well as doing the work to draw people to Himself. We keep this principle engaged when the motives of our work are pure and generous.
It’s possible to get caught up in the work of ministry while ignoring or being oblivious to what God is doing because we fail to realize that God uses Christians as His instruments. The second principle is [BW1] that ministry should always work for the benefit of someone else. To minister is not to reach a level of knowledge about Christ, but to gain knowledge to enable the spread of the gospel of Christ.
We can best take steps to glorify God by knowing the character that He has displayed from Scripture. Believers then take steps to replicate that character as we live to invite others to accept the gospel of Jesus, while relying on God to draw them unto himself (John 12:32).
