Lead People To What They Need

The early markings of a leader are crucial to the strength and longevity of a leader. Jesus sends out the disciples in Matthew 10:5-10 and there are two principles to pay attention to in the early instructions to His disciples before sending them out.

The first is to lead people to what they need. Jesus told them to go “to the lost sheep”, this phrase could be translated to mean people without a leader. But it wasn’t for the goal of them be their direct leader, but to point them to God who’s kingdom is in heaven.

Secondly and in junction with the pointing them to God, they themselves were to rely on the people they were sent to, to provide for their needs. Although it is not plainly stated they would of had to relied on God to move through the hearts of the people to act in love towards them.

Our prayers need to reflect our desire to help point people to God so He can lead their life to be fulfilled and pray for our hearts to be settled with the peace that God will provide all the things that we need.
