A Focus Above

God’s Word tells us to have a heavenly focus in Colossians 3:2. This can seem like an impossible task at first, but once we realize it is a life mission the pressure will fade away and our check list of religious things to do will be transformed into a desire.

This mission although it is long it is simple, the key is found in verse right before it (Colossians 3:1). The simple call to seek the things that are above could be translated into this- find, gain, desire or even demand information about Jesus and why He lived the way he did and died the way He did. We believers have no problem praising Him, but many times we don’t chase after Him.

When we start chase after Him our unseen worries and problems will start to be come smaller and weaker and our life will be in a better position to be used for His glory than us chasing after just another simple moment of pleasure on this earth. Our focus will rise above this earth and our pleasure will be to see the position of Jesus honored.
