Matthew 13:44-50

Jesus tells three parables in a row about the kingdom of heaven. Two of them are very similar in the fact that someone finds a treasure that is the kingdom of heaven and sells all they have in order to buy it. Obviously we cannot purchase our way into heaven, even though our way has been purchased by the life of Jesus. But we can leverage the riches of this earth for the kingdom of heaven.

Another view Jesus tells about heaven, is that people are like fish caught in a net and God’s angels come sort through the good and the bad or the those who believe and those who don’t believe. But this other perspective is that people are simply caught in a net. There’s a lack of drive missing in this parable.

We need to pray that we are never satisfied with just believing, but we are willing to let our belief impact and influence our lives.
