The word “blessing” in Hebrew can be the speaking of excellence of an individual, an oath that results in prosperity, a treaty of peace by surrendering or handing over thereby creating a better circumstance it also could be wealth or a gift. Probably more times than not we desire a blessing to be the latter of possibilities. There’s nothing wrong with having money, the problem lies with our perspective of it. Although it is an important resource, it is not the most important item.
We need to be careful about the blessings we seek and chase after, but one thing that we definitely need to chase after is the blessing of the Lord. Solomon wrote that “the blessing of the Lord makes rich” (Prov. 10:22), but the key element to hold onto in the verse is that the Lord adds no sorrow with it. This word sorrow means hurt strenuous work or pain. If we were to have a closer look at individuals who had more money us, how much hurt, pain, and headache would we find. I want to make sure my perspective of a blessing is surrendered to God that way He will has control over circumstances so my worry can be focused on staying in-step with His plan.
