Be Amazed

Knowledge and understanding are needed in order to truly grasp an amazing expression of power. The redemptive story of the Israelites coming out Egypt is an amazing story. On one hand we see the amazing strength and care from God to a people group that was enslaved and regarded as a people of a lesser value. And on the other hand we see jaw dropping moments to miraculous provisions as though they were deserving of anything and everything that God could to give them. At one moment the Israelites made the comparison that at least they had fish and meat to eat when ever they wanted while being slaves to the Egyptians.

To their defense I think we all struggle with being content with God’s amazing power and timing.

They say that perspective is everything, and our perspective is established buy what we know. Just think about what is possible in society today. We can fly over continents in less than a day’s time, we have air conditioning that we all appreciate on one hundred degree days like today. People can build structures that hypothetically scrape the air of sky.

But what is amazing to you? Is it individuals being able to mix and match the elements of earth, which have been there for thousands of years, so they can make a product, (that I’ll admit I’m truly grateful for) or is God setting those elements from the beginning to be discovered, as well as promising to create an even better place that not only functions as paradise but will also provide complete and eternal emotional stability? What God has given to humanity is truly amazing, but our purpose in each and everyday is to live a life pleasing to Him.

In 1 Corinthians 10:1-5 Paul describes what the Israelites went through as they were being lead by God through the desert. From their perspective of what was amazing, God was not pleased with many them (a certain generation). Therefore God overthrew them in the desert. Meaning they died and suffered in the sense of not being able to receive the earthly blessing of the promised land.

Take the step that leads your life to please God and be amazed by Him and not merely for the pleasure ourselves.
